About Ryan Baysden
When Ryan Baysden appeared on this years American Idol, Simon remarked, "The first Ryan I've met so far with talent". It was a high spot for the 28-year-old country singer from a fishing village called Salter Path, NC on the scenic Outer Banks of NC. He placed in the top 80 out of 100,000 of those who auditioned.

However, unlike most of the whatever happened to people, Ryan has received more publicity and success, since that show, than most of the singers who didn't make the top 10. He was signed by Sonic Records in the early fall of 2006. He then recorded a CD of excellent songs from Nashville (provided by Sonic Records) and has since been on the TV talk-show circuit, along with getting radio airplay and making CD sales.

He appeared on the syndicated national TV Show, Daytime, (http://daytime.tbo.com) from the NBC Studios in Tampa, FL. On Nov. 17, 2006.

His schedule is filling up with Rodeo dates & other events, and Ryan is headlining festivals from NC to Tampa, FL. His career has advanced much more than most artists who have been on the road for 5 years. He headlined the entertainment at The Professional Bull riding Rodeo in Asheville, NC, where he received a standing ovation for his A cappella rendition of The National Anthem. He opened for Joe Diffie at the Midnight Rodeo in Morehead City, NC and headlined a huge festival, sponsored by Polished Palate, (http://www.polishedpalate.com/) in Tampa, FL., at the historic Cuban Club! While in Tampa, he appeared at Gaspars Grotto, one of the hottest clubs in the Tampa Bay area, located in Ybor City, FL. (www.GasparsGrotto.com)

Ryan Baysden - What Turns You On

Wednesday, March 14, 2007 Ryan Baysden - What Turns You On By: Amy Ross, CSO Staff Journalist

If you are an American Idol fan then you will recognize the name Ryan Baysden. He was one of the lucky ones selected in Greensboro, North Carolina to compete on the show. Even Simon Cowell liked him! That, as we all know, is a feat in itself. He was later eliminated from American Idol because he was "too traditional country" well heck, that's right up our alley and I have to agree that Baysden has a great traditional sound. The first track on What Turns You On is "Fall Of The Year". It is one of those songs that get people out on the floor rubbin' belt buckles and it tells a great tale of change in our seasons and in love. Very worthy of the last dance billing, which is always the best song of the night.

"Politically Incorrect Redneck" the second title on this album, just makes you want to get rowdy. Give it a little time and the country clubbers will have a line dance choreographed for it. Warning: it would be unadvisable to sit in your chair tapping your toe to the beat. This one will rock the legs off your perch anyway, so get up and stomp!

Of all the love songs on Baysdens album, I have to say "Did I Say Something Wrong" is my favorite by far. So much emotion in his vocals, I fear if he were to sing this live, to a complete stranger, even she would hopelessly fall in love by the end of the song. What a beautiful song and such talent. Well by the time you get to the fourth title, "Mile a Minute", it is clear that Baysden has a sound all his own. I tried to place who he sounds like, but really, there isnt just one person you can pin point. He has that great country flare that fans everywhere crave.

"What Turns You On", the title track, has a versatile sound. It could be a swing, a fast two-step or even a line dance. It is as adaptable as the man he is singing about. "I'm a marathon shopper, a coffee bar hopper / I could sit through ballet or even opera for your love." I love a fast paced song that keeps your feet busy on the dance floor and this cut does just that.

Now, this album just wouldn't be complete without a cheating song right? Well Baysden steps up to the plate with "What Does He Say Now", telling about a man coming home late and walking through the back door to a tear stained wife. "What does he say now that she hasn't heard before"?

Packed with love songs Baysden finishes his album with three more heartache songs; "I Cant Take My Heart Anywhere", "Memphis Might As Well Be The Moon," and "Ten Feet Away." All of them are equally great songs.

Baysdens ten song album "What Turns You On" can be purchased online at www.sonicrecords.com for $12.95 and its sure to please.

History of Sonic Records

Sonic Records was formed in 1968 by three college students, Don Adrian Rice; Jim Linsay; and Doug Thurston at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. These students were actively involved in music and had been putting on concerts using local bands in the Western North and South Carolina area. They were working with a local group that had been into a recording studio and were looking for a way to get this recording on the radio. Sensing a need, the trio looked into pressing records and found that they could get it done. They then formed Sonic Records. Incidentally, the group that they first put out on record became know as the now world famous Marshall Tucker Band! The trio surmised that there were probably other groups that wanted to put our recordings but had no idea how to - thus Sonic Records. Eventually two other label were added - LeLonnie and Fad - this due to the increasing numbers of groups and artists that wanted their recording out.

After the group graduated from college, they each went their separate ways, Don Adrian becoming a college professor, Jim, a doctor, and Doug, a football player / coach and entrepreneur.

The labels lay dormant during the late 70's and 80's. In 1992, Doug again saw a need for the labels as there were countless bands, artist and groups wanting to record and release a product for air play and sales but not knowing how to do this, were doing inferior production and recording and were being charged exorbitant prices and not getting the service(s) which they needed and had paid for.

Sonic Records branched into the fast rising "oldies" market with addition of the legendary WOLFMAN JACK to the label. Wolfman has 2 CD/Tapes out - Wolfman Jack's Graffiti Gold Vol. #1 & 2 and another finished - My What Big Ears You Have. The first two projects include several Wolfman cuts , several of the radio skits that make the Wolfman Jack radio show unique and a number of the most famous songs of the age. My What Big Ears You Have will have only Wolfman songs on it and features famous guest artists playing on the project such as Joe Walsh of the EAGLES and the Phil Collins Band horn section.

Sonic Records and it's subsidiary labels provide artists and bands a chance to have professional products on a recognized label. Sonic Records also provides it's artist and groups the chance to get played on the radio by distributing the products to the appropriate radio stations for air play and then promoting the product by calling the proper person to help gain air play. Sonic also places the product into it's nationwide distribution network. While Sonic Records can not guarantee air play and record sales, we can guarantee that we will do all in our power to get this.

AMERICAN IDOLS RYAN BAYSDEN ROCKS THE BLOCK, COUNTRY STYLE, IN WINSTON-SALEM, NC BEFORE THOUSANDS OF FANS

A virtually unpublicized CD Release Party turned into a major concert event for Sonic Records Recording Artist, Ryan Baysden, and pleased thousands of spectators at this years Rock The Block Festival in Winston-Salem on Sept. 15, 2006. Ryan made a brief splash on 2005's American Idol and was even complimented by Simon as being The Ryan with Talent!

His first CD with Sonic Records entitled "What Turns You On" was less than 2 hours old when fans (especially female) lined up to purchase the CD. An estimated 4,000 fans crowded around the small stage throughout the six (6) hour evening to see Ryan perform all 10 songs from the CD.

Numerous times, throughout the evening, Ryan brought out his guitar and wowed the audience with a few cover songs, including Amarillo By Morning by George Strait. It was his first performance in Winston-Salem, which is about 4 hours away from his hometown of Salter Path, NC

Before the night was over, new fans were singing the words to the catchy songs and some new followers were on the front row for hours. Although all of the CDs songs were well received, it was "Politically Incorrect Redneck" that got the party crowd rocking. Some spectators remarked that Ryan's performance drew larger crowds than many of the previously publicized acts at the event, which had a total of over 30,000 people.

Ryan was so busy signing CD's, and being photographed, that he actually signed a few while he was singing. He captured the hearts that night of a wide spectrum of kids, adults, males, and females, Black and White. Even when he wasn't performing, new fans wanted to hang around to meet and talk with him.

He was also being videotaped for a DVD that is soon to be released. Fans would have stayed past midnight if the police had allowed. It was a great kickoff for the new star! American Idols Simon is correct; Ryan Baysden is The Ryan with Talent!

His CD is available now on www.sonicrecords.com. The DVD is soon to be released.
